Should You Day Trade or Swing Trade?
Welcome to DTS Answers. Today’s question is: Should you day trade or swing trade?
Naturally, the first issue is the time you have available. If you are not available during stock market hours—from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.—then you need to swing trade.
However, swing trading when you are not with the market during the day is one of the most difficult types of trading, despite what you may have been told. See the links below for more information on this important topic.
If you are available for even the first 30 minutes after the market opens, there are many swing-trading concepts that can greatly improve your odds.
If you are available for the first 30 to 60 minutes after the market opens—or at any other time during the day—you can also day trade.
Also keep in mind that, at the time of this recording, the rules had just changed and the $25,000 requirement was no longer being enforced by the SEC. Therefore, more people became eligible to day trade.
There is no difference between swing trading and day trading. It is simply different charts and different time frames. Don’t let anyone ever tell you differently.
Swing trading carries the risk of holding overnight, but that can also be a huge reward. You do, however, need to adjust your share size to allow for possible overnight gaps.
